OUR ACTIVITIES
AICU has set as its main target a number of educational and cultural humanitarian initiatives, aimed at raising public awareness on the issue of essential medicines to be allocated to the most disadvantaged populations, to train new doctors, to intervene with specific projects in needy countries.

Humanitarian Activities
The Associazione Italiana Carlo Urbani raises funds for the acquisition of medicines, called essential, to be allocated to institutions and associations engaged in the constant care and prevention of infectious and parasitic diseases that affect the populations of developing countries, especially children at an early age.
Promotes and encourages initiatives, projects and aid
of particular humanitarian interest
in developing countries.
-
Educational Activities
AICU promotes and finances training courses to be held in Italy and/or abroad, in the field of infectious and parasitic diseases, for doctors and workers resident and active in developing countries.
AICU provides grants, awards and scholarships named after Dr. Carlo Urbani dedicated to the study of prevention and treatment of infectious and parasitic diseases.
-
Cultural Activities
AICU promotes, organizes and finances events, exhibitions, conferences and meetings, in order to make the need to improve access to essential medicines and care for the poorest populations even greater and more heard.
Among the cultural activities is one to influence, as much as possible, the decisions of pharmaceutical companies and, consequently, their willingness to finalise research on essential medicines and supply them to populations and villages recommended by the Association.
